Forecast
Check My Solar can show solar generation forecasts for the next few days. Forecasts help you plan usage and see expected production. The app supports two providers: Forecast.Solar (free) and Solcast (premium, API key).
Where you see forecasts
Section titled “Where you see forecasts”- Forecast view — In the dashboard, the forecast section (or forecast tab) shows predicted generation for today, tomorrow, and the next several days. You can switch between days (e.g. Today, Tomorrow, +2, +3 …).
- Tomorrow’s forecast notification — If the solar forecast integration is enabled and you turn on “Tomorrow’s Solar Forecast” in Notifications, you can get a daily push with tomorrow’s expected generation and peak times.
Setting up a forecast
Section titled “Setting up a forecast”Forecasts are configured per device (inverter). Open Menu → Account (or Notifications) and use the option that opens Forecast / Solar Forecast setup (sometimes under “Advanced” or “Notifications” depending on the screen).
Forecast.Solar (free)
Section titled “Forecast.Solar (free)”- In the forecast setup, choose Forecast.Solar (or “Free” provider).
- Add at least one roof (installation):
- Label — e.g. “Home”
- Latitude / Longitude — Your installation location (e.g. from MapQuest or similar).
- Capacity — Installed kWp (e.g. 5).
- Angle — Tilt in degrees (e.g. 30).
- Aspect — Azimuth/orientation (e.g. 180 for south).
- Save. The app will fetch forecasts (e.g. 48-hour or extended) and refresh periodically.
No API key is required. Data is updated automatically (e.g. every few hours).
Solcast (premium)
Section titled “Solcast (premium)”- Get a Solcast account and API key from Solcast / account API key.
- In the forecast setup, choose Solcast and enter your API key and (if required) Resource ID for the site.
- Save. The app uses Solcast for higher-accuracy forecasts where configured.
Solcast may have usage limits depending on your plan. The app uses a single forecast endpoint; if both providers are configured, the backend may prefer one (e.g. Solcast when available).
What’s shown
Section titled “What’s shown”- Per day — Expected generation (e.g. kWh) for today, tomorrow, and the next days.
- Peak times — When the sun is expected to be strongest (where the provider supplies this).
- Charts — Forecast curves or bars for the selected day.
Forecast data is predictions; actual generation depends on weather and system performance.
Tomorrow’s forecast notification
Section titled “Tomorrow’s forecast notification”- Only available when a forecast integration (Forecast.Solar or Solcast) is set up for the device.
- Enable it in Menu → Notifications: turn on Tomorrow’s Solar Forecast and set your preferred time (e.g. 6 PM).
- You’ll get a push each day with tomorrow’s expected generation and peak times.

- Account & settings — Where to find forecast and advanced options.
